I ’m baaaack ! Been on vacation all last workweek in cheery , warmSouthern California down in San Diego playing on the beach and up to Disneyland . Ahhh , 78 - 80 academic degree weather . How gracious ! A much needed vacation .. But now that I ’m back there is still much to do before cozying up to a fireplace and look at succeeding come catalogue that I have n’t get yet . I ’m so far behind , I ca n’t see . So here is my list of to do ’s that I have n’t done :
. Finish get out the garden - only partially done . Must dispose of all Lycopersicon esculentum plants ( all now dead ) , all cucumber and squelch plants . I wo n’t compost any of these as I do n’t require to diffuse any potential diseases they may have had since they are very disease prostrate and if you do n’t get your compost pile hot enough , you may not down all the pathogen . Also glance over any debris and get free of it . Make the dirt passably . Here I come city dump !
. polish off my compost pile . aim to get more coffee grounds , leave of absence and impudent horse manure or cottonseed meal ( to fire up up the pile ) and add to the partially composted great deal . Soon I wo n’t be adding any kitchen scraps as they will not break down in the dead of wintertime ( at least not for me ( I ’m not a louse farmer)-Deb F. I need your advice on create blistering compost in frigid winter climates ! )
. I already took off the drip system timekeeper but need to take out the battery and put them inside somewhere . I never drain or blow out the drip and never had a problem . Ahh , one less matter to do !
. Oh oh ! I conceive I blew it . We have already had freezing conditions at night , so I may have shoot down my new picayune friends - dirt germ in products such as Serenade , Companion and Mycorizial but I ’m cash in one’s chips to get them anyhow out of the garden shed and put them in the house where it is ardent . Hmm , enquire what press I can hide them in ? I get it on , the kat room water closet ! Nobody want to go in the Caterpillar room anyways ( where the pot bedding material boxes are ) ! I inquire what these microbes do in the winter anyways out in nature ? ! Hmm , I ’ll have to look into that this wintertime .
. Put everything from the Tomato Lady commercial enterprise in the garden shed . Oh yea and clean up and straighten out that garden shed while I ’m in there . And lay out some mouse traps in case they cogitate the row cover is really just cover for them in the wintertime .
. I ’m going to get the autumn pumpkin piece grunge tested this year and see what amendment I take to add . I ’m going to add amendments to it and the general veggie garden as soon as the sale go on at the garden stores . Last class I pick up my Seaweed , Thrive , Yum , Yum admixture , and Fish photographic emulsion really cheap- right about now .
. Need to make notes about what happen in the garden this year - you know , successes , failure , problem - thing I can look at next fountain to refreshen my computer memory . Need to make a diagram of where my diseased tomato were before I forget . Should n’t replant tomato back in those spots again for 3 year . I will be planting less tomatoes next twelvemonth in an domain that either has n’t had tomatoes or it ’s been 3 years since I planted there . It ’s called plant rotation - but with the number of tomato plant I implant every year , it ’s getting severe to find new places with in the garden to plant them or I may demand to inflate again next yr . Na , just plant less tomato ..
. complete up my collecting cum and sorting them . I ’ve almost done there .
. Do you believe this ? I ’m planting some starts of spinach and lettuce in a inhuman frame NOW ! Just an experimentation to see if they will do well or not ..
. Planning to build a small gamy tunnel to be ready for early Spring . trust it ’s a fond winter …
