Everyone is sad today . Gwydion the sheep died this forenoon .
See , sheep have to have their wool fleece every spring ; otherwise they get too red-hot and they can get ‘ hurtle down ’ like our grandma sheep , Baasha , did in May .
Last February , Dad made arrangement for a man to do fleece our sheep . But he did n’t show up and then he did n’t deliver Dad ’s earpiece calls , so Dad bid another shearer who say he ’d come . But he got rained out three weeks ago and since then , he has n’t returned Dad ’s calls either .
Mom and Dad sleep together they ’d have to fleece the sheep . It ’s very hot now and they were afraid the sheep will overheat and die . They started cause up at 2 a.m. while it is n’t quite so hot and shear a few sheep while it ’s glowering .
We have shears , but Mom and Dad ca n’t tip the sheep on their butts to fleece them like professionals do . Dad has a bad back and now Mom still author ’s butt and she ca n’t bend over very well .
They had to halter and tie the sheep to the fencing and trim the sheep while they are standing or else . To go faster so the sheep did n’t overheat ( Mom and Dad are really dull shearer ) , the top of each sheep got shear ; they ’ll shear them again , all over next metre , this downslope when it ’s much cooler .
They sheared most of the sheep before coming to Gwydion . He was just a year old , even younger than me . It was very hot and very humid , even in the dark , and Gwydion was very frightened to be splice up . Dad begin shearing him , then Gwydion come down over and he break breathing ! Dad seek to give him CPR but he was dead . We were all shocked . Mom cried and weep . The next morning Dad buried Gwydion and Mom throw all the cup of tea of sheepskin off . She require nothing to prompt her of defeat that beautiful sheep .
My mamma and dad are very tempestuous at themselves because they did n’t shear the sheep in April when it was nerveless and because they trusted professionals to honour their word and they did n’t .
Now the respite of the sheep have to waitress until fall to be shorn . mummy bought more fans and is doing her best to keep them coolheaded ( I ’ll talk more about that next workweek ) . She also ordered a crank - up fitting stand so she can shear the sheep herself next prison term .
And now she tells people on theHobby Farmsforum , “ Do n’t buy sheep unless you have a go at it a dependable shearer who will positively show up , or you ’re willing to con to do the job yourself . ”
