Since the commencement of the yr , we have harvested 1816lbs of food .
We also gathered 2,125 eggs and slaughter 5 roosters .
Yesterday I harvested 60lbs of potatoes during a livestream , which brought our gross sweet white potato harvest thus far up to 155lbs .

They raise quite well in the Grocery Row Garden , despite an exceptionally ironical summertime .
Our biggest issue this twelvemonth has been watermelons – and they also grow all through the GRG . If it had n’t been for the melon vine vines , we would have planted a caboodle more angelic Irish potato .
The unknown “ inadvertent ” harvest that kick our number up was the yield of the pumpkin vine that grew out of our compost stack .

They have yielded 281lbs of yield so far and there are easy another 20 Cucurbita pepo out there which are still green . As the weather has cooled , the plants have decided to make many more . We ’ve never seen autumn pumpkin this vigorous before .
The 107lbs of pumpkins on the list are from the pumpkins we deliberately plant out in the food forest . They had dainty mounds with compost in them , and did rather poorly in the heat and drought , getting all blow away by the pumpkins we permit to grow from the compost pile .
This will bear on how we raise autumn pumpkin next twelvemonth .

Can you imagine if we just made 5 compost chain reactor and threw Cucurbita pepo on them to rot ? We could easily give-up the ghost 1,000lbs of autumn pumpkin in 2024 . I say this class ’s pumpkins were “ inadvertent , ” but that only apply to their sprouting . After they sprouted , we just left them alone to run , so we did allow them to take over the quad they ran through .
Our potato yields were not dandy this year , though we were glad to have them in the spring . I consider we need more constitutive matter in the garden to make them happy . We hit 232lbs total , and the productiveness of the Adirondack Blues was a nice surprisal .
We do n’t know how our yam or manioc will do after the severe lack of weewee , but I do think we ’re likely to outmatch 2,000lbs in yields by the end of the class .

Deo gratias !
We have n’t bothered weighing the greens we reap here and there , or the herb , as the system of weights are small and hard to count on out ; yet I ’m sure there ’s a few more quid there .
Also , the daikons in leap were wonderful , giving us a in effect payoff which we then ate fresh , sautéed , and ferment . Another round is growing right now .

I love growing the cool - season crops after the rut of summertime . It would be good if we got a mild nightfall without rime , as that would give these a functional startle . It will also give our remaining tropical theme crops more time to grow .
Also , I have n’t even weighed these yet :
That ’s probably another 50lbs ! These bloodless perfumed tater are monsters .

Have a wonderful weekend .
