I ’m not exit to spout about New York City , but only because I ’m holding myself back . I have sex nature and green Tree and vocalizing birds , so the cock-a-hoop city did n’t appeal to me all that much . I ’ve visit many declamatory cities and I always observe myself wish I was on the porch of a farmhouse . Then , last week , I spent just three days in NYC and I ’ve come home renewed , inspired , and excite about the future gardens and plants halt in urban infinite .
A few months ago , I was ask in to wait on theBetter Homes & GardensStylemaker effect in Brooklyn . I was invite last year as well , but I got abominably sick a few hours before my flight and had to scratch . It was atrocious lying in bottom follow the # bhgstylemaker hashtag and seeing all that I was missing . Thankfully , the BHG team did n’t hold it against me and they invited me back again this class . And there was no room I would omit it a second prison term .
The event was held at the mark - new1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge . Outdoors there were three erect gardens made with recycled wood and plants “ For You , ” “ For Nature , ” and “ For Us . ”

I walk into the pressure group to see a huge life wall and a lounge packed with plant .
at once , I feel at home .
The hotel was adorned both indoors and out with plants everywhere . Ferns , moss , and tropic plants indoors ; Tree , herbs , and grasses outdoors . My way had a small moss-grown display beside the sink that was home to a fleeceable lacewing fly . induce abeneficial insectas a pet made me leave all about my bugs at household !

The rooftop was a wad . The views of the Brooklyn Bridge , Statue of Liberty , and city business line were breathtaking .
The bar was set up up like a garden patio , full of plants and chain Light Within to set the mood .
Enough about the hotel , I was there for something even skillful , the BHG Stylemaker outcome !

September is Stylemaker month at Better Homes & Gardens and you will see the whole takings is dedicated to interesting and fashionable people doing beautiful things out there in the world . I memorize so much from the editorial team ’s display throughout the day , and had flock of meter to meet some of the other attendant during breaks and cocktails .
There were talks on styling , stigmatisation , and trends . We styled some avocado tree toast ( well , the nutrient bloggers styled the pledge while Iforagedfor some fresh herbs like the resourceful gardener I am ) . We broil a cake . And we learned how to finger knit from Etsy superstarpurlBknit . These activity were fun exercises that surround some sophisticated column preparation and brand name workshops . I have style and baked and knit before , but in this case , I walked away frantic for the possibilities of how I can further break what is being created here on Garden Therapy .
I was honored and thrill to be one of the four gardeners who were invited to the event , along with Amanda Thomsen from the hilariousKiss My Asteras well as Ryan and Chantal of the Westcoast coolHorticultand the upcoming book , How to Window Box . I can definitely see that there is a focus on including more horticulture content on the pages .

I was give the opportunity to set up a narrative idea to the editor which they seemed to really love ( hooray ! ) and I also had a covert trial for some forthcoming video projects . I tried not to think about the screen test too much so I would n’t get neural . gratefully , there were cocktails waiting for me flop later on .
I fit some young friends who I had a lot in common with ( you have it off who you are ! ) and some that I admire for their difference . I ’m in fear of the behind - the - scenes brilliance of Better Homes & Gardens and the welcoming , creative , and gifted adult female and men behind the vista . I toured the New York Botanical Garden and walk the High Line – both of which I have plenty of picture of to share with you in upcoming posts .
And I fall in lovemaking with New York City . I would say more but I foretell not to gush .
