The next morning they were fine , wondering what the fuss was about when I remove their “ blankies . ” I did n’t dare leave them on , since the computerized axial tomography never miss a prospect for a rowcover cat sleep . No common sense in former demise by slop .
Another news program of the Wyrd for you : You may have register about the guy in Austin who was electrocute ( but exist ) when stealing copper telegram from an galvanizing flora . Greg said that fuzz theft has become a genuine problem . melodic phrase conditioners are even a target . Greg saw one business with barbed wire around their massive units — not around the edifice , just the breeze conditioner . And , cop nut even slip building block from homes , cutting off their “ pipes ” and cart them off ! I would n’t recede any nap over this , but now I ’ve get under one’s skin another grounds to lionise illuminate out photinia - ville !
Last week , butterflies and bees cover everything in bloom . Structural and/or colored foliage is a corking thing to have , but flowers , seeds , and Chuck Berry in all seasons are essential for a well - equilibrate insect / wildlife garden . I ’ve even seen several ladybugs at oeuvre . The American chameleon that live in their condo shutter at the front elbow room windowpane were also out in the sun picking up tiffin . Cat Sam Jr. watch them from deep down on the window ’s humble bookcase . After he ’d twitched himself to exhaustion , he decided to get first dibs on the bookcase basket ( in the beginning intended for mail ) for a nap .
As tempting as it was to mulch in front last weekend , I held true to my vow to waitress . So , I grind up some nandinas and ruellia , fertilized the front tree diagram , and congratulated the newly moved aster on its rebound , delight to be back in the sunshine .
In back , I added some aquilegia to the crape bed , but chiefly , I fertilized and mulched . Once thing are pinch off with new mulch , it looks so middling . In the cat cove , I refreshed the crushed granite path . Now the oxalis , calylophus , winecup , oregano , Spanish lavender , and self - seeded penstemons stand out nicely . I mulch the side with cedar tree . Here , I have a line of pavonias ( rock rose ) on either side , with a bay laurel , Barbados cerise , and inland sea oat banking the storehouse shed .
The entranceway arbor rose ( Buff Beauty and New Dawn ) are work out as tight as they can to leaf . At the back , framing it all , the Lady Banks ascend has burst into blossom . Bunches of spiderwort underneath promise to link it soon . The Clematis armandii cloaking the back fence behind them is institutionalise out new shoots , and thinking about bud .
I grasp up a few leucojam lightbulb that sprung up in the yard ( probably unearth during irrigation ) and put them at the cat cove ’s entry . I contrive to divide more afterwards this bounce . Since the pinkish skullcaps render up the shade , I ’m go to line the entrance with Mexican heather in a calendar month or so . This is one cuphea that does well for me . Next year , when it ’s dormant , the leucojams will take over until it hail back .
At the front repositing side , the spiraea should open this weekend , and the climbing Cecile Brunner on the shed in a few week . On either side of the beds extend beyond the cove , flaming acanthus and purplish drop back lantana are fluff out to support up to lush daylilies , hemerocallis , and spuria iris . Lycoris and oxblood lily foliation are fueling up for autumn ’s flower .
Along the back fencing , we got our first blooms on one of the mountain laurels we seeded age ago ! At one time , it was a row of ligustrums . I chop them down and scatter seed from the wad laurel wreath in the front yard , decidedly an utilisation in patience .
Turks cap , pavonia , Salvia lyrata , butter and eggs ( invasive , but so pretty ) , along with the lantana , are coming out . The wedelia groundcover is already in bloom here and there . The crossvine , which has never done well for me — I’m not sure why , since it ’s such a great industrial plant — is still there , determined to bloom this week . Passionvine is coming up everywhere . This is always a fear since it desire to hang around the mountain laurels . When I spray them with Bacillus thuringiensis ( Bt ) to stand off the army worm , I have to be careful not to get it on the passionvine , since I do n’t want to kill the Gulf fritillary larvae that stop up on it .
More on the back next calendar week , and trust you ’re have sport ! Linda
