‘Grandma Einck’s’ dill grows wherever it pops up in Diane’s Garden

“ ‘ Grandma Einck ’s ’ dill is a honest family heirloom . This dill weed , offered by Seed Savers Exchange , originated in my class ’s garden in Festina , Iowa , in the early 1920s . I maturate up think Anethum graveolens was only used for sweet-scented dill jam and was the only herbaceous plant my crime syndicate used .

My Grandpa and Grandma Einck owned the farm , my female parent was abide there , and my parents moved there in 1951 . No one remembered who planted the Anethum graveolens in the garden — but it self - seed each twelvemonth , and my aunts would come out to our farm in the summer to harvest it for their own pickling .
