We ’re starting the hebdomad off in Oregon , in the garden of Karen and Randy Hopson . divide into unlike section , but all flowing together harmoniously with Randy ’s unbelievable metal sculpture and social organization . In less than a decade the couple has been able to create
We move to our current garden in 2015 and started from a totally clean ticket . The ornamental beds are implant with drought tolerant conifers for year round interest and shrubs and perennials and annuals to attract birds and pollinator , highlighted with my husband ’s beautiful metalwork . In the low garden are metal upgrade beds that provide a bounty of vegetable and cut efflorescence . Karen Hopson

Here are those mythic metallic element garden bed that Karen note . Unlike some other alloy raised bed , which are treated and coat to avoid rusting , the rusty look of Randy ’s design give the bed a more raw facial expression . So much so , that if you wait quickly , you might err them for darkly - stained wood .
As Karen alluded to above , their garden are on a pretty serious incline ( thus the vegetable bed in the “ low garden ” ) , so there were some extra challenges in creating all this garden beauty . hold back wall produce more level planting space while a wide track permit for wanton access to search and savor the garden above and below . As you follow the path you also see Randy ’s incredible metalworking sprinkled throughout .
To bring some flora life to the gravel paths and retaining walls around their home , annual containers offer a riches of leaf textures and pops of color . The contrast of the the greyness stone with the many Green of the plants that replete the quad

last , Karen and Randy ’s garden becomes even more wizard with a gleam layer of snow . While Karen highlighted the drouth - tolerant conifers , there is a perfect array of little trees , shrubs , and perennials that create various bodily structure perfect for interest in this more subtle time of year .
give thanks you so much for share your serene blank space with us , Karen ! You ’ve done so much and created so much beauty that it ’s hard to even imagine what your landscape painting looked like before . If you have any old photo , it would be bewitching to see the extent of the translation .
