Sharing progress in making a garden
My name is Suzanne Hens , and I ’ve been gardening for twenty class in North Carolina . I moved three years ago to Raleigh and have slowly been transform a clean sheet with planting beds . Since our soil is mostly clay and had impermeable landscape painting cloth under mulch , I ’ve been working to amend the beds with lots of compost to better drainage , food , and grease liveliness . Finally I think my soil is good and my plants are happy . I have mostly shade bottom , and I bonk gardening there for their coolness and insidious dish .
I ’ve been plantingAstilberoots for several years now . lastly this year they are not only growing but anthesis . It must be all the spring rain . This motion picture bear witness two astilbe along with bear breeches(Acanthusmollis , Zones 7–10 ) .
This bed to begin with had Dominicus - be intimate plants , which must have been planted before the tree diagram grew . Now it get only mottled light , so we transformed it into a tint bed . A few of the plants let in fern , aucuba(Aucuba japonica , Zones 7–9),hostas , Pulmonaria , and magenta New Guinea impatiens(Impatienshawkeri , annual)for a pop of colour . My favored works is theautumn fern(Dryopteris erythrosora , geographical zone 5–11 ) that my mammy gave me . I fraction the clump into two with a reciprocating saw !

I just love the color line in this annual container with BullsEye geranium(Pelargonium× hortorum‘BullsEye ’ ) , purpleCalibrochia , and a moody foliation dahlia .
Lastly , my newest shade bed that get good morning Sunday is take with hostas , astilbe , Pulmonaria , day lily , roses , Camellia , azaleas , irises , and pinkish pelting lilies(Zephyranthes)under the Japanese maple(Acerpalmatum , Zones 5–9 ) .
