For starter , Cal Poly Universities ’ Certified California Grown float – featuring over 91 percent of peak from the Golden State – gain the Extraordinaire Award , the award that recognizes the most over-the-top entry in the entire parade !

The 17,000 flowers that cover the award - winning ice-cream soda were donate by California blossom farmers . In fact , over five age , California sodbuster have donated most $ 100,000 in flowers to the Cal Poly Rose Parade team .

For the past eight long time , the California Cut Flower Commission has been working diligently to facilitate bring the tradition of celebrating California Grown Flowers back to the Rose Parade . Photo by Linda Blue Photography .

This year also place the book for the most parade entries to earn California Grown Certification . The certificate recognizes submission decorated with more than 85 per centum of gelded flowers and Green from the Golden State . A total of nine ledger entry were certify , include entries from :

Farm Ambassadors helped to hand out over 18,000 California Grown poser to parade goers who drop time to see the ice-cream soda being build up prior to the parade . Photo by Linda Blue Photography .

An amazing 28 farm embassador volunteer help engage the crowds of people who attend “ deco workweek . ” The ambassadors give out over 18,000 CA Grown stickers to tribe that come by to see the Cal Poly float being build and learn about how these massive float come together .

These hardworking ambassador touched thousands of people with narration and information about flower farming in California .

In another first , the California Cut Flower Commission recognized Karen Ross , secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture , with its first ever Public Service Award during a particular reception Dec. 31 in Pasadena as part of festivities leading up to the 2019 Rose Parade .

For the past seven years , Ross has gracefully bestowed California Grown Certification on Rose Parade introduction . She ’s also helped advance the California Grown program , let in working on the maturation of a strategic architectural plan and assisting with funding .
