Enjoying nature’s garden
My name is Anna Lindquist , and I ’m a personal and professional plant nerd based in the Intermountain West . I ’m especially enamored withnative plantsand am always in awe of the magicalvignettescreated by native industrial plant community . Though I ’ve tried my best to reduplicate them in garden , I ’ve found that nature always does it best . I moved to Utah two years ago and unluckily do not presently have space to garden at my rental property , so I have had to rely even more on public land for my nature localization . Being at the confluence of multiple eco - realm , Utah cover a petty second of everything . These picture showcase the beautiful diverseness of plant find across the nation , from the desert to the high alpine .
Calochortus — Escalante desert , Pueblo commonwealth . Calochortusis a genus of electric-light bulb aboriginal to westerly North America , with beautiful , intricately pattern bloom .
Orobanche — Escalante desert , Pueblo land . Orobancheare parasitic plants , with no parting , taking nutrient from the legion plant they confiscate to , and only appear aboveground to bloom .

Castilleja — Uinta mountains , Eastern Shoshone land . Castillejaare aboriginal to western North America , with minor blossom tucked between colorful , showy bract . They are take “ hemiparasites , ” meaning that while they confiscate to the roots of other plants to take some piss and possibly nutrients , they also have leaf to photosynthesize on their own . Often difficult to cultivate in garden , they are a beautiful part of westerly wild landscape .
Eriogonum — Uinta Mountains , Eastern Shoshone land . Eriogonum , also anticipate gaga buckwheats , are fantastic garden plants for dry westerly gardens , thriving in very arid conditions and acquire many clump of showy prime , ordinarily in refinement of scandalmongering .
Aspens and maples in their fall glory — Wasatch Front , Eastern Shoshone and Goshute country . One of the display of nature that gardens can never come close to matching isfall colorat its finest .
